The Fun I Have With Hair!

Awe my sweet Elizabeth.
Elizabeth is one of my stylists at Oooh Girl…Who Did Your Hair? Salon. She has been with us for almost 3 years. She is my right-hand woman! I was so excited to put 18 inches of hair on her head.
Her natural hair is to her shoulders and for a long time she was a blonde.
She decided to go dark and to be honest I love the dark hair on her way more then the blonde. Her dark hair makes her eyes just pop. She looks like a totally different person. Hair color is just one of those magical things that can completely change your entire look.

After going to our Natural Beaded Row class in November we just had to put in her hair extensions, we couldn’t wait!
We started out with a rich chocolate brown with subtle highlights. Of course, we took tons of pictures but here is her before and after. I wouldn’t want to overwhelm you with all that I have.
She wore them for about 6 weeks, which is the right amount of time before it’s time for a maintenance appointment. In those 6 weeks, as her hair grew, the extensions grew out too. This means that every 6 to 8 weeks we go back in, freshen up her hair color and as always recolor the hair extensions, that way everything blends seamlessly. Then we put them back in, so she doesn’t leave the salon without her extensions. One of the things I love about Natural Beaded Row Extensions is how it DOESN’T cause damage to the natural hair. Now I say this with caution. Depending on the stylist you go to and the amount of time and education they have invested into learning NBR is what keeps your hair from damage. I personally have not only invested time and money traveling back and forth to California for classes, I also put my time in when I am not working at the salon. It’s all about the reps. When I am not doing extensions in the salon on my clients, I am practicing at home every single day on my mannequins. Yep you heard right EVERY SINGLE DAY.
What did this mean for Elizabeth? This meant that she knew that her hair and the integrity of her hair was not only in my hands, but safe in my hands. This also meant that she wouldn’t be sitting in my chair for hours upon hours because of how much I had already practiced. As we all know the more you practice something, not only do you get better but you become faster.

Ok, back to Elizabeth’s transformation. Her Chocolate Brown NBR extensions were fabulous but she wanted to go darker. So that’s exactly what we did. When I say dark, I mean DARK! Almost Black, but not quite. We took out her extensions, colored her hair then I set my sights on her extensions. In about 4 hours she was done and once again looked like an entirely different person.

Here’s what I noticed with both extension appointments I did on her. She felt good about the way she looked. I am going to tell you a secret, but you can’t tell anyone. She recently went through a breakup and we all know what that can do to a girl and her self esteem. Putting in her 18 inch extensions seemed to give her the boost she needed. She got some new cute clothes, got eyelash extensions and just became a better, more confident version of herself. A fearless, self-assured woman who knew what she wanted and wasn’t about to back down. Now she walks into the salon with a confidence she didn’t have a year ago. Which I love seeing in her!
I don’t think we as women appreciate how having beautiful hair makes us feel. We put ourselves second, without thinking about what it really does to us on the inside. When we feel beautiful we walk differently, we act differently and all in an amazingly positive way. The next time you get your hair done, I want you to notice how you really feel when you walk out the door. Pay attention to how you carry yourself, how you treat your family when you get home, how you treat your husband and more importantly how he reacts to you. Yes, even your husband can see a difference in you after you get your hair done, and it is an amazing feeling!
I ask all of my clients what they are doing after their hair appointment. Most of them say something like “My husband may want to take me out tonight.” Or “I need to go somewhere now!” Why? Because they want to strut their stuff and there is nothing wrong with that! In fact, that’s the best thing to do after getting your hair done!
