A Girls Gotta Do What a Girls Gotta Do!
Ok, so we are going on day 22 of the COVID-19 Crisis. I think I have come to terms with not being able to leave my house. It hasn't been easy and I try very hard not to complain. I have everything I need here at home, food, water, a.k.a iced tea, shelter and most importantly my health and the health of my family. The only thing I don't have that I am missing more than anything right now is being in the salon with my clients!
I have seen so many posts throughout social media about people cutting their own hair and buying store-bought color and coloring their own hair. In fact, it looks like there is now a shortage of hair color in the stores! First, it was toilet paper and now it's hair color. You probably think I am going to shame you into not coloring your own hair, tell you how bad it can turn out if you use the wrong thing or leave it on to long, or how much it is going to cost to get it fixed.
Welp, you're wrong. I know how stir crazy you can get sitting in your house day after day feeling like there is no end in sight. Your house is clean, laundry is done, you have watched every single episode of every single show there is on Netflix. The kids have driven to the point where sleeping outside seems like a vacation. You need change! I get it!

I know what it is like to look in the mirror and see the same faded out hair color looking back at you. Your roots are getting longer by the day and you can't stand to look at them anymore!
So what is a girl to do?
Anything you want! Well....almost anything.
Will I be upset if you color your own hair? Not at all. Look, we are all going through this Crisis together yet we each have completely different situations. We want to feel good about ourselves even while stuck inside the house. Getting your hair done is probably one if not the best feelings a woman can experience and not having that anymore does something to our self-esteem.
With that said, do I want you to wait for me? Of course, I do! I can't wait to get back to the salon and have you in my chair and being able to make you feel and look the best you ever have. I think about it every single day!
If you do decide to color your own hair at home I do have some advice. Don't use bleach to lighten your hair. If not done properly the damage that can happen to your hair can take years to repair, yes I said years. I suggest you stick to semi-permanent or demi-permanent color. It will give you instant satisfaction with minimal damage. That way when you are back in my chair we will be able to either keep what you have or change it up, again with minimal damage. Don't do black! Once you do black hair color, even getting it professionally done it is not easy to lighten it back up again. It will take time and money to get you lighter. Try staying as close to your root color as possible. Need to cover those lovely always growing gray roots? Style Edit has easy to use temporary root touch up powder. The root touch-up powder is easy to use and can be used every day. Just apply it to your part line and the sides and Viola! Your grays are now covered, at least until your next shampoo.
Sometimes all we need is a little pick me up so reviving your hair with a color similar to yours will make all the difference in the world. If you are a brunette or redhead and aren't wanting to go the color route but still want to enhance your current color you might want to try Joico's Color Infuse Shampoos.
These shampoos are perfect for refreshing your hair color. It's great for natural or virgin hair as well by helping enhance the natural tones throughout your hair.
Don't cut your hair. Coloring is one thing but cutting is a whole different beehive you don't want to mess with. Trust me it is not going to come out as good as you think it is!
Sometimes a great deep condition treatment does a world of good too! Especially if you make it a little spa treatment. After getting the kids taken care of and hopefully calm, go into your bathroom, close the door, shampoo your hair then add a deep conditioning treatment like Olaplex #3 or Amika's The Kure Moisturizing Mask, let it repair your hair while you paint your toenails! Rinse and then give yourself a great blowout, put on some makeup and rock those comfy yoga pants!
No matter what you decide to do, have fun doing it, take some time to pamper yourself and enjoy every minute. Sometimes changing up your routine is all you really need! Feel free to shop my online store. Get all you need to have amazing hair in the comfort of your bathroom.
I would love for you to show me what you did! Tag me in your pictures!
I can't wait to see you in my chair! I wish I could say I'm counting down the hours but at this point, I have no idea when I will be back up and running. I promise to let you know the second I open my books back up!
I hope you all are safe and healthy!
